After the almost 150mms of rain that has fallen since Thursday afternoon the sun is finally out.
The Bell and Macquarie Rivers are very swollen but fortunately our town has missed out on the flooding that has occurred in other towns in our region.
Weekend plans of vintage fairs, walks and bike rides had to be postponed. Cabin fever had started to set in and it is a relief and a sanity saver to be able to send the two year old outside to play. The lawn squishes up between our toes but it is so good to be able to run around outside. My washing is drying on the clothesline rather than in my lounge room.
The sun brings a sense of lightness and joy so I thought I might list a few other things that are making me happy right now.
My new coffee pot. The perfect colour for my mood. Pick up last week at Salvos Dubbo. As the only coffee drinker in the house she is a bit to big for me to use. But it looks so cheery sitting on my stove top for now that where she lives.
Cherry tomatoes from our garden. All this rain about has turned our veggie plot into a jungle, and if left to long any tomatoes go from almost ready to splitting and mushy mess. it is an absolute joy when we manage to rescue a handful here and there.
Rose from our garden picked for me by my love. This rose is called Mr Lincoln, we planted it on Mother's Day 2009, 6 months after we lost our baby boy, Lincoln. It a lovely rose with a beautiful old rose perfume, that you can't help but smell when you walk past. It makes me feel joyful, sad and grateful all at the same time.
