Celebrating lessons learnt.

Things I learnt after our double barrel celebration weekend.

- Hand made gifts are always appreciated by my husband. He always seems amazed at how I could get time to do it.
- I'm amazed at how I find time to make handmade gifts.
- Handmade beanbags are so much prettier than shop bought.
- It is impossible to fill a beanbag by yourself.
- It is impossible to photograph a beanbag without it looking like a shapeless sack.
- Sending Luke off for a bike ride was the best gift I gave him.
- Sponge cakes, if not treated lightly will flop.
- Store bought sponge cake is always saved by cream, homemade strawberry jam and chocolate icing.
- Even just family around for afternoon tea is tiring when you have a 2 year old, and 11 month old and are 22 weeks pregnant.
- There will always be family members that will be selfish and insensitive. I can't do anything to change this behaviour.
- I actually don't mind chrysanthemums.
- An uninterrupted sleep is the best gift an 11 month old can give his mum.
- Finally getting things done around the house is the best gift a husband can give is wife on Mother's Day.
- Cookbooks, chocolates, lovely scissors and sleek phone covers are pretty nice gifts too.
- My boys are amazing

  1. Your cake looks pretty awesome.. you would never know it was "saved"! Looks like you received a lovely stack of reading there. I've been eying off that CWA cookbook for quite some time now. Would you recommend them?

    1. Thanks Tania, I was pretty chuffed with the cake too. The CWA cookbooks are full of everyday basic recipes, no nosense comfort food. I love them.

  3. I'm amazed too! I struggle at times with a two month old and a three and a half year old. But being pregnant on top of that? You would find me permanently on the couch with knitting needles in my hands! :)

And yes, I have some family members who are insensitive and selfish too. It is a lesson I have to keep learning though. As I once read, when someone says that you are too sensitive, it is probably because they just said something insensitive. It's good to remind myself of that at those moments.

  4. Just get Luke to act as a beanbag model when you want to take a photo.
