After a our play date at the park yesterday I could no longer ignore the fact that I have known for some time. My boys need new pants! As Isaac climbed, crawled and chased his way around the play equipment I could see that over summer those little mushy, stumpy toddler legs had ever so slightly become leaner, taller preschool legs. As for Cohen, the only pants the poor little guy has is a hand-me-down selection of trackies. While they are perfectly adequate for home, some thing a bit dressier is called for. Especially when meeting cute little girls at the swings.
After going through book shelves and fabric stashes a plan is forming.
Elastic waist cords and flannelette pyjama pants for Isaac
Anna Maria Horner's fabulous Quick Change Trousers, nautical inspired for Cohen.
Then of course the sewing list starts to grow beyond the need for pants. Shirts, hats, cute backpacks and sweet hooded jackets. Maybe i will conquer my fear of knits and whip up some t-shirts.
Before you know it I'm overwhelmed with an enormous list and the thoughts of notions I'll need to get at Spotlight. Aaargh, I need a cup of tea.

Oh how cute your handmade pants will look. Love the prints of the fabric you've chosen.
ReplyDeleteTania at http://ivynest.blogspot.com.au/ has made the quick change trousers for one of her little ones and they look great. x
Thanks Zara, they are fantastic pants for littlies. It can be tricky gettting fabric for boys, girls seem to have so much more choice.
DeleteI am SO sewing obsessed at the moment. Little else is happening around here.
ReplyDeleteGreat pile of books you have there. Shall have to investigate some of these further. I'm loving ottobre magazine for boys patterns that turn out great every time. Mostly knits though.

Thanks for visiting Rachel. Sewing for Boys is a great book, really partical patterns and great for super busy, into everything toddlers. I haven't come across ottobre magazine, will have to see if I can get my hands on it.
